TREVOR NUNN

Trevor Nunn became Director of the National Theatre in 1997. He was Artistic Director of the Royal Shakespeare Company from 1968 to 1986, directing over thirty productions, including most of the Shakespeare canon. He created The Other Place and Swan Theatres and led the RSC into its new home in the Barbican. Other theatre productions include Nicholas Nickleby and Les Miserables (both with John Caird), Starlight Express, Chess, Aspects of Love, Timon of Athens, Heartbreak House, Arcadia and Sunset Boulevard. Opera work includes Katya Kabanova, Peter Grimes, Porgy and Bess and Sophie's Choice. Television and film work includes The Comedy of Errors, Macbeth, Three Sisters, Lady Jane, Othello, Porgy and Bess, Twelfth Night, Oklahoma! and The Merchant of Venice. Some of his productions at the National include Oklahoma!, Not About Nightingales, Troilus and Cressida, The Merchant of Venice, Summerfolk, Albert Speer, The Cherry Orchard, My Fair Lady and The Coast of Utopia.
