DAVID HERSEY
LIGHTING DESIGNER

David Hersey has designed the lighting for over 250 plays, musicals, operas and ballets. His work has been seen in most corners of the globe and his many awards include Tony's for Evita, Cats, and Les Miserables and the Olivier Award for Lighting Design, which was presented to him in 1996. In London's West End his work is currently represented by Les Miserables and My Fair Lady, winner of the Olivier Award for Outstanding Musical Production, and at the Royal National Theatre, Anything Goes. David also designed the lighting for the Royal National Theatre's production of South Pacific, which opened in December 2001, and in 2002 the Broadway production of Oklahoma! Founder of DHA Lighting, industry leaders in the design and manufacture of specialist lighting, his designs can be seen in theme parks in Florida and Italy as well as the world-renowned lighting extravaganzas at the Mirage, Treasure Island and Belaggio hotels in Las Vegas. For ten years he was Lighting Consultant to the Royal National Theatre and is a past Chairman and current Fellow of the Association of Lighting Designers. In 2002 he was awarded an Honorary Doctorate from Middlesex University.
